Album cover designed for Modest Mouse's EP "No One's First and You're Next." Modest Mouse has heavy nautical motifs in most of their albums, so naturally, they always remind me of the ocean. This EP in particular has a few ocean-driven songs and the music video for "King Rat" features whales poaching people as a statement against whale hunting. Modest Mouse also often explores the duality between positives/negatives, beauty/grunge. I used the ivory-colored slipcase as a mask for the rest of the album art with a circular cutout to initially only show a pretty section of ocean and sunset. When the slipcase is removed, it's revealed that a man is falling head-first into the black waves.
